Definition: The Lebanese Syriac Scout Association is a Lebanese Syriac Scout institution that embodies people of both sexes. It has troops in all over the Lebanese provinces. It is also one of the pioneer institutions of the Scouts Movement that contributed in the foundation of the Lebanese Scouts Union, and which is a member of its leading council. It is a national institution which is neither confessional nor sectarian. It follows the system of the founder of the International Scouts Movement, Lord Robert Paden Powel of Glowel, whose aim is to spread out the scouts' doctrines as well as the national spirit among the Lebanese youth. It also works on bringing up young men to be capable righteous citizens belonging merely to God and nation, interacting properly with their environment, and building up their social existence. Moreover, this association participates in camps, meetings and conferences that are local, Arabian or even international.
The Association's History: Towards the end of year 1943, St. Ephrem division that belongs to the Lebanese Christian Scout Association (The Lebanese Scout) was founded in Beirut. In 1944, St. Peter and Paul Syriac Association were interested in this Scouts idea and hence established the Msaitbe division. Therefore, it was agreed on this issue, numbered 946, on July 5th 1944 By the Scout of St. Peter and Paul for the Syriac Orthodox. In 1945, a new division was established in Forn El-Sheback in the club of The Christian Working Youth (JOC) which made the association improve more with the development of the movement and the increase in the number of the divisions. In 1947, St. Ephrem division joined St. Peter and Paul's Scout. Its general Staff was located in Ashrafiye – the Syriac district. In 1948, the first troop for girl scouts was established in Msaytbe, and in 1949 Hmourabi's troop was founded. Later, in 1953, activities switched to the Bekaa province and Prince Bachir's as well as Prince Fakher El-Din's troops were founded. Then in 1956, the Bekaa legation was founded and in that same year the issue was renewed again, so the name of the association became: The Lebanese Syriac Scout Association according to issue number: 1151 dated July 25th 1956. In 1962, Paden Powel's troop was established in Shiyah, and Hannibal's troop in Sabtiye that are considered to be the core of Mount Lebanon's legation. Also, the Music legation was established in 1964. Then, in 1973, St. Georges' troop was established in Mreijat.
